In January 1995 the Construction IT Centre has been established within the Faculty of Civil Engineering to integrate the efforts of its researchers and lecturers active in the field of computer and information science. The main aim of the Centre is to promote interdisciplinary research in the fields of informatics and construction. Through our research, we are developing solutions for automation, integration and optimisation of the processes in civil engineering. We are convinced that a building object is a good basis for integration, therefore we have focused our research on product models, with a special emphasis on roads. Besides product modelling our activities are particularly related to database modelling, GIS development and 3D visualization with a prevailing use of object and component oriented technology. A part of our research is also related to ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems). In our Centre students are always welcome. It is a rule that we host foreign exchange students every summer. Here are some comments about their training and experiences in CITC.
